Berkshire School is proud to offer our student-athletes access to excellent facilities for training and competition, both on and off-campus. In addition to a full range of fields, courts, and training equipment located on-campus, student-athletes participating in crew, alpine skiing, and golf travel off-campus to race and play at nearby venues such as Catamount and Butternut ski areas, Wyantenuck and Egremont golf courses, and Camp Sloane in Lakeville, Connecticut.
In 2009, Berkshire School opened the Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center, a 117,000 square foot facility that features two ice hockey rinks (one Olympic size and one NHL Regulation size). The facility includes14 locker rooms, a full athletic training suite, the Picotte Family Fitness Center, and conference and special function rooms. In addition, Berkshire's Athletic Department offices are housed in "The Jack."
During the school year, the center also hosts indoor tennis and campus events, including Prize Night and Commencement. In addition, the facility hosts performances by the International Berkshire Choral Festival and youth hockey teams. The skating facilities are open to the public on a limited basis.
Berkshire's multi-use gymnasium, the Soffer Athletic Center, was fully renovated in 2016, including the addition of a state-of-the-art squash center which features 10 squash courts, exercise areas, as well as meeting and office spaces. In addition, the Soffer Athletic Center features two basketball/volleyball courts, an indoor exercise/training area, climbing wall, and team locker-rooms.
Berkshire athletes practice and compete on a full range of multi-purpose courts, pitches, and fields under the Mountain, including Tom Young Field (baseball field), Schappert Field (football field), Stewart Pitch (soccer field) and Beattie Fields.
