New Families Timeline
To ensure a smooth transition to your child's first year at Berkshire, we’ve created this timeline to help you navigate the details of the registration process over the coming months.
Student Health registration and forms for the 2019-2020 school year are available through Magnus Health beginning May 1, 2019. You can get started on your health forms by clicking the button below. No additional sign in is required. Please complete health registration by July 1.
IMPORTANT: In the event of a sudden or unexpected illness on campus, ALL FAMILIES are required to complete Salisbury Pharmacy prescription forms. Please click on the button below to fill out the "Student Registration" form which can be downloaded by clicking the "Student Forms" tab on the left of the Salisbury Pharmacy website. The completed form should be printed and faxed or emailed to the numbers on the top of the form. Thank you.
LANGUAGE PLACEMENT - Families will receive an email from Jesús Ibáñez, Chair of the Languages Department, with instructions for helping determine your child's placement in his/her language course.
COURSE SELECTION - Families will receive an email from Clay Splawn, Dean of Academics, detailing the process for course selection.
TRANSCRIPT - At the close of the academic year, please withdraw your child from his/her current school and request that an official end-of-year transcript be sent to Berkshire.
SUMMER READING - Families will receive another email from Clay Splawn about Summer Reading.
VERACROSS - Parents and students will be able to access Veracross (Berkshire's Student Information System) in late-June through the Parent or Student Portals. This system is used to manage family information, grades, schedules, etc.
ONLINE REGISTRATION - Parents and students must complete "online registration" within Veracross prior to August 1. (Online registration consists of several items including, but not limited to, confirmation of course selection, changes to family profile, and acknowledgement of travel and school policy documents.)
ATHLETICS/AFTERNOON PROGRAMS - Students will use Veracross to sign up for afternoon sports or activities for fall, winter, and spring.
IMPACT TEST- ALL students (regardless of athletic/afternoon program preference) are required to undergo an online baseline concussion impact test. Use the customer code: 09bd805aad. More detailed instructions can be found here.
Students should complete the ImPACT test prior to August 20.
FACULTY ADVISOR - Families will receive an email in mid-August from their faculty advisor. Please refer to our website for information about Berkshire's Advisor/Advisee Program.
STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK - Acknowledgement of the Student/Parent Handbook in Veracross is required by August 20.
DORM ASSIGNMENTS - Dorm assignments and roommate information will not be available until late August. Families will receive this information via email from Berkshire's Admission Office.
CALCULATOR REQUIREMENT - ALL students are required to have the TI-Nspire CX CAS graphing calculator. You may purchase one at the Bookstore during on-campus registration or before your arrival. Click here for more information.
ARRIVAL ON CAMPUS:
Thursday, August 29: NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARRIVE.
Registration from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Thursday evening: International Student and Family Dinner
Families will meet the student's advisor who will serve as a mentor throughout the year.
Friday, August 30: Orientation for international students and parents (morning session).
Parents: Tour of school and information sessions.
Students: Math and science placement meetings with department chairs.
Students and parents: shopping trip to mall for those interested (optional).
Parents of international students may depart after lunch.
Saturday, August 31: NEW DOMESTIC STUDENTS ARRIVE.
Registration from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
August 31 - Monday, September 2: ORIENTATION FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS.
Tuesday, September 3: First Semester begins.
Students will receive their class schedules and all books required for the fall semester at Registration.
A detailed schedule of Opening Days and Orientation will be available later this summer.
Every fall, all ninth graders at Berkshire participate in the Third Form Leadership Retreat, a two-day orientation event. This year's event will be hosted at YMCA's Camp Sloane in nearby Lakeville, Conn. Students and parents are required to sign a waiver to participate. Please click on the button below to access the waiver, then sign and return it to Chris Perkins, Third Form Dean, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to August 20.

Teachers will let students know what kind of school supplies they will require in their classes. The Bookstore has a variety of notebooks, binders, etc. available for purchase after classes begin.
