Undermountain Child Care
Undermountain Child Care (UMCC) offers full and part-time child care for 37 weeks, for children ages twelve weeks through five years old, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (infants and young toddlers) and 7:30-4:30 (older toddlers and preschool).
Undermountain Child Care’s mission is to provide excellent quality early care and education to the children of the families we serve. UMCC offers a warm, safe, and nurturing home-like environment that encourages independence, self-respect, and sensitivity to and awareness of others. Program goals and curriculum have been developed to promote each child's emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. The goals and curriculum have been developed based on our philosophy that each child is a unique individual with various interests, needs, and abilities. Through daily activities, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers will be provided with extensive opportunities to explore their surroundings and grow and develop to their maximum individual potential at their own rate.
The curriculum is implemented to reflect responsiveness to family home values, beliefs, and experiences. UMCC’s curriculum goals guide teachers’ ongoing assessment of children’s progress, which supports individualized learning. They also guide the development of a daily schedule that is predictable yet flexible and responsive to the individual needs of the children. The schedule provides time and support for transitions, includes both indoor and outdoor experiences, and is responsive to a child’s need to rest or to be active
