Members of the Berkshire family found their way to Yankee Stadium on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22) to support Jack Harrison '15 and the New York City FC in their quest to secure a first-round bye for the Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs. J.J. Jemison '09, who coached Harrison at Berkshire, reflected on the experience of walking around Yankee Stadium, saying "passing by jerseys in the store windows with big-time names like Pirlo, David Villa, Lampard, then Harrison was unreal." Jemison said watching NYCFC compete for the second-place seeding was an amazing experince. "The team played really well, [Jack has] grown and gotten stronger, quicker, more technical which is hard to believe, and yet he is still the same humble person that walked our campus."

NYCFC scored early to take the lead 1-0, however Columbus Crew responded shortly to equalize 1-1. Harrison, who has worked tirelessly to make it into the starting eleven for the club, continued to prove the worth of his first-overall MLS super-draft pick by netting the eventual game-winner in the 75th minute in regulation. Harrison went one step further two minutes later, on a quick transition, slotting a pass into space between two defenders for his teammate Khiry Shelton to finish and secure the victory.

With the result, NYCFC advanced to the MLS postseason for the first time in team history.

Meanwhile, Harrison took some time following the game to meet with the contingent of Berkshire students, faculty and staff, and alumni that attended the game, and even sign a few autographs.
