On Tuesday, May 20, the Class of 2025 celebrated their time under the Mountain with their advisors and the faculty at the annual Senior Dinner in the new Campus Center. Bray Wilcock '12 was the speaker for the evening.
Speaking to the Class of 2025
At Berkshire, Wilcock was a prefect in Allen Dorm, a tour guide, and a member of the WBSL Radio Club and the 1907 Society, in addition to captaining both the ski and crew teams. He attended the United States Naval Academy and, after graduating in 2016, became a Marine. Wilcock left active duty four years ago and started working in tech startups in mental health, artificial intelligence, and Consumer Packaged Goods.
He is currently a co-founder of Bloomy, a startup that helps people discover wellness events and communities in their local area and provides tools for wellness and fitness entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. He currently lives in Charleston, SC, with his wife, Taylor Lynch ’12, and son, Teddy.

To the senior class, Wilcock shared twelve lessons from his time at Berkshire. His first lesson, “Failure is not optional. It is a requirement for success,” grew from his experiences trying out for Varsity Lacrosse and Varsity Baseball. While Wilcock didn’t make those teams, it pushed him to explore other athletic offerings and, he shared, “It took me two failures and years to find something I was truly passionate about. If Mr. Bowler or Mr. Gappa had given me a spot [on their teams], who knows where my life would have gone. I wouldn’t have started rowing; I wouldn’t have gone to Annapolis; I wouldn't have become a Marine.”
Wilcock's lessons encapsulated his experience at Berkshire. They provided a framework for his life and showed him the importance of perseverance and commitment. To the Class of 2025, he ended with his 12th lesson: “You are your input into life … The input and love you give to those around you comes back to you tenfold over the course of your life.”
