On Saturday, February 17, Berkshire welcomed 29 alumni and greeted a total of 61 alumni, family, and friends on campus for the 2018 Alumni Winter Games featuring alumni basketball, hockey, and squash. In addition to the games, alumni gathered for a reception and luncheon in the Function Room of the Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center.

At the reception, Head of School Pieter Mulder gave a warm welcome to all in attendance before introducing Robin McGraw '70 to award the alumni-of-the-game trophies. The Troy R. Robinson '85 Alumni Basketball Player of the Game trophy was awarded to the Moran Family (Bobby Moran '85 and his children, Tianna and Dylan) who had the impressive distinction of collectively scoring 65 points in the Alumni Basketball Game. The newly rededicated W. Ross Hawkins Alumni Hockey Player of the Game trophy went to Tom Hargrave '81, P'18.

To mark the occasion of the rededication of the W. Ross Hawkins Alumni Hockey Game, Ross' sons Scott Hawkins '83 and Leigh Hawkins dropped the puck to begin the game. They were joined at the event by Ross' wife and former employee Joyce Hawkins.

McGraw also took the opportunity to remember his former coach, teacher, advisor, mentor, colleague, and friend W. Ross Hawkins on the occasion of the re-dedication of the Alumni Hockey Game in his memory: "Ross was one of those people who touched hundreds and hundreds of lives, and I was one of them. At a time in my life when I didn't believe in myself, he believed in me. We've been playing the Alumni Hockey Game since the winter of 1966—and I'd be willing to bet that Ross never missed any of those games. He really cared deeply about Berkshire hockey."
