Dr. Sian Beilock
Berkshire School is thrilled to announce that Dartmouth President Dr. Sian Beilock will give the School’s 118th Commencement Address. President Beilock is a cognitive scientist by training and the first woman to serve as president of Dartmouth.
President Beilock's focus at Dartmouth has been on issues facing higher education and the world including affordability for middle-income families, a commitment to mental health and well-being on campus, and investing in sustainability and energy transition at Dartmouth. She has also spearheaded the launch of Dartmouth Dialogues — an initiative to facilitate conversations and skills that bridge political and personal divides, and advance meaningful debate on the issues of our time.
President Beilock is one of the world’s leading experts on the brain science behind “choking under pressure” and the brain and body factors influencing all types of performance. She has worked closely with Fortune 500 companies, professional sports teams, and public sector leaders to build high-performing teams and create environments that attract, retain, and get the most out of their talent. Her 2017 TED Talk on performing under pressure has been viewed more than 2.7 million times.
