Berkshire was seeking its fifth championship in the last six years (2012-2014, 2016). The Bears finished the season 19-1-1 (17-0-1 regular season, 2-1 playoffs).

Following the game, current Berkshire head coach and former Loomis Chaffee coach, Charlie Bour, thanked both teams.

"I just want to say thank you so much to my team, the Berkshire Bears, who accepted me into the Berkshire community," Bour said. "I gotta give these guys credit, they really battled this whole year. I also want to congratulate Coach Helfrich and his coaching staff. I know some of these guys decently well. You guys play with a lot of heart, congratulations."
