Berkshire's Philanthropy Outreach Program (BPOP) has awarded $10,000 to BlinkNow, an organization that works to educate and empower children in Nepal.

The grant will help finance construction of a science lab at Kopila Valley High School, which is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and serves upwards of 350 children from the surrounding area.

"We are so grateful for Berkshire's hard work, and of course, very grateful for this transformational gift. You are making a big difference in the lives of our children," said Ashley Dittmar, Director of Development at BlinkNow.

BPOP was launched in 2015 after two anonymous donors generously gave $250,000 to support philanthropy in the classroom at Berkshire. The endowment allows the students to award $10,000 annually.

On May 21, Mr. Bullock's Economics and Philanthropy class announced that classmate Henry Giordano '18's proposal had been awarded the grant. Giordano joined Head of School Pieter Mulder on stage to receive the award in the form of a $10,000 check.
