Advanced Math/Science Research

Step into the shoes of a working scientist—design your own research, collaborate with a mentor, and contribute to the scientific conversation.

With access to Berkshire’s state-of-the-art laboratory, and inspired by their own interests, students can take on real-world laboratory research in the biological, physical, or social sciences. The course culminates with a critical review paper and a research paper, both in scientific format, as well as presentation of your work.

Ritt Kellogg Mountain Program

Challenge yourself in the outdoors while building leadership skills, confidence, and a lifelong connection to the natural world.

An alternative afternoon program to traditional team sports, the Ritt Kellogg Mountain Program offers a classroom like no other: Berkshire's scenic outdoor surroundings. Explore, learn, and grow through a variety of wilderness activities.

Aviation Science

Learn to fly using on our on-campus flight simulator, and gain hands-on flight training at the local airport.

Ever dream of piloting a plane? You can pursue that path through Berkshire's Aviation Science course. The course prepares students to pass the FAA Ground School Certification Exam, an initial requirement for earning a private pilot's license, by studying aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation, radio communication, and instrumentation.

Ask big questions, follow your curiosity, and contribute original ideas to the humanities in a course that feels more like college than high school.

Start by choosing your own topic, then conduct sophisticated research in the humanities–languages, literature, history, philosophy, and the arts–to arrive at your own conclusion, and contribute to and advance the conversation.

Advanced Environmental Science Research

In AESR, students take the lead on hands-on projects that explore real environmental challenges, some with world-wide implications and others with an impact right here on campus.

Each year, students design and carry out ambitious, independent investigations that mirror the methods and urgency of real-world science. Recent student research has explored topics ranging from molecular biology to species conservation.

Berkshire School is a co-ed, New England college preparatory boarding and day school offering a rigorous academic course of study in the northeast United States. Our campus, located in Massachusetts, has state-of-the-art academic, artistic and athletic facilities on a stunning 400-acre campus in the Berkshires.
