Squash - Girls Junior Varsity vs. Suffield Academy

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 19, 2013

Score:2 - 5

Event Recap:

On Saturday, the Girls' JV Team traveled down to Suffield for what proved to be an exciting and close match.  Going into the competition, Berkshire knew it would be a close contest between the two teams. Additionally, we were missing three players who were experiencing a different type of competition- a Model UN conference.

#1 Allie MacErlean '14, playing number one for the first time this season, played a tough match with her initial game being her best.  Allie had some excellent points but Suffield's number one had a great serve.  #2 Kyla Rabb '13 played very well and was strong with her command of the 'T'.  #3 Lucy Hollister '15 faced her toughest opponent of the season to date, and although Lucy tried valiantly, she lost in the third game with the second going into a tie-breaker.  #4 Eliza Berg '13 played a good game.  She was down two games and then came out with gusto in the third game to be victorious.  Unfortunately, she lost in the fourth game by 10-12.  #5 Charlotte Weil '13 also tried her hardest to win but lost in the fourth game after winning the second.  #6 Sydney Beldock '14 flip-flopped back and forth between a win and loss until the fourth game when she won in a tie-breaker.  #7 Lilly Weil '13 also tried her hardest for a win but lost in the third game in a tie-breaker.  #8 Caroline Welch '15, playing two positions up from her normal spot, had a slow start in her match but was close to winning the third game where she went deep into a tie-breaker.  #9 Karolin Kreke '13 was a little overwhelmed in her first two games but made a tremendous leap in the third game to lose in a tie-breaker.  #10 Madison Heilshorn '16 won her first game but then, unfortunately, struggled in the remaining three.  #11 Jenalyn Rembish '14 played the final match and all eyes were on her as she went to the fifth game.  Unfortunately, her opponent outplayed her.  Teh girls are looking forward to playing Taft this Wednesday at Berkshire.  Thank you to all the parents who came and supported us on Saturday!
