The Girls' JV Squash team had a very encouraging start with a victory for all against Canterbury. Kyla Rabb '13 and Allie McErlean '14 returned to their same spots as number 1 and 2 on the ladder from last year. Both girls played well and won in three games. Charlotte Weil '13, who usually plays number 3, was out sick today, and taking her place was Lucy Hollister '15, who climbed up the ladder quite a few rungs from her spot last year. Lucy also won her match (11-8,5,5) with her strong serves. Similarly to Lucy, Eliza Berg '13 climbed to number 4 from our last season and was victorious today (11-3,8,2). We are happy to have Sydney Beldock '14 back on the team after an injury kept her off the courts for most of last year. She played at the number 5 position and won handily (11-3,3,4). Lily Weil '13, who is also back on the court after an injury late last season, played at number 6. Her match today was 11-5,1,4 and she demonstrated her talented serve and quick recovery to the 'T'. Anna Heissenbuttel '13 was in top competitive form today and, at number 7, won her matches by only allowing her opponent two points in three games. The rest of the team played exhibition matches (best of three). Ximena Lauscurain '13 held the number 8 spot and, like Anna, allowed her opponent only a couple points. Number 9, Caroline Welch '15 had a powerful serve, and number 10, Jenalyn Rembish '14 placed thoughtful shots. Experiencing their first squash matches was Ana Alvarenga '15, Karolin Kreke '13, and Madison Heilshorn '16. Ana won her two matches (11-5,4), Karolin Kreke was victorious (11-2,1) and Madison Heilshorn played a Saint from much higher on the their roster and won (12-10,11-3). We look forward to playing at Williston on Saturday.
