Hockey - Boys Junior Varsity vs. Trinity Pawling

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: February 23, 2013

Result:Win
Score:5 - 1

Event Recap:

In their final game of the season, Berkshire put forth a nearly flawless game - tenacious on the forecheck, selfless and disciplined in the defensive zone, and thoroughly exciting. The Bears allowed the first goal of the game on a seemingly innocuous rush by a lone TP forward, and were taken by surprise by the highlight-worthy finish over goaltender Sam Merrill '16. That initial play awoke a sleeping giant of a team, with Berkshire scoring five unanswered goals.

In a storybook ending, all four seniors found the back of the net, including Jesse Hahn '13, Will Knight '13, Jared Shatkin, and Charlie Yorke '13 (his first of the season/career). From point shots on target, pretty displays of stickhandling, to sheer force of will, each goal was largely characteristic of the scorer himself.

The team should be proud of their determination, their progress, and their finish - it was a remarkable turnaround from the first half. Congrats to the seniors for all their service. I look forward to working with the returning team next season.
