This was our chance at redemption from an early season drubbing at the hands of the Highlanders. Things started out well, actually, as we we played hard, especially on the defensive end, and redounded the ball much better. Early on, it was a low-scoring affair, which is just how we needed it to be. But as their pressure cranked up, we fell victim (again) to numerous turnovers. Those turnovers, of course, did not allow our 1/2 court defense to set up and they converted with easy scores.
Still, with about 2 minutes left in the half, we were still within striking distance, down only 5. A quick spurt, however, put us done by 14 at the break and then the lid came off. We could never gain any momentum at all in the second half and basically unraveled. We stopped rebounding and they scored on numerous, consecutive possessions.
Are we to win games this year, we must take care of the basketball and put together a complete 32 minutes. Quite simply, we need to get better on both sides of the ball. We will have a quick chance to recover with a Monday tip vs. Millbrook. Hope to see many of you there.
