vs. Canterbury School
|Date:||February 8, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 48 - Canterbury 46|
The Berkshire Thirds basketball team made their way down to Canterbury in hopes of breaking their current four game losing streak. It was a very close game throughout the first half. Clutch shots from Eric Hwang '17, Savas Tutumlu '14, and Tony Borraco '14 helped give the Bears a 19-18 lead at half. The Bears were able to move the ball quickly and get some open shots, finishing the first half with 7 different scorers.
Jesse Lee '16 started off the second half with a big time 3 and the momentum continued from there. Komar Martinez-Paiz '15, Matthew Cortes '17 and Justin Donawa '15 would all hit 3's in the half, making it rain from deep. The Bears would take a double digit lead until some questionable calls and nice shooting on Canterbury's part would shift the momentum. Canterbury made a huge run towards the end of the game and eventually miss the game winning 3 with the clock running down, ending the match with a 48-46 final in favor of the Bears. Justin Donawa '15 was the leading scorer with 11 points followed by Quentin van der Lee '16 with 8 points. It took a good team effort both defensively and offensively to break the losing streak, with 11 different players scoring for the Bears. The Bears look to get back to five hundred on the season as they host Trinity-Pawling on Wednesday, February 12th.
