Basketball - Boys Thirds vs. Salilsbury

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 20, 2014

Score:Berkshire 31 - Salisbury 40

Event Recap:
The Berkshire Bears Thirds Basketball team traveled down the road to Salisbury on MLK Day for a highly anticipated rivalry game.  After arriving late to the gym, the Bears only had a few minutes to warm up before tip off.  Plagued by injuries, the Bears found themselves undersized, but were able to compensate with their tremendous effort and athletic ability.  The first half scorers included Tristan Gaynor, Quentin Van Der Lee, and Justin Donawa, combining for a total of 14 points to go into the half down 22-14.  Just when Salisbury looked like they were going to pull away in the second half, the Bears tightened up their defense, creating turnovers to keep the game close.  Alex Meehan hit a mid range jumper assisted by Van Der Lee, followed shortly by Emmett Clarke securing a rebound and taking it coast to coast for a nice finish on the other end.  The Bears played hard but were unable to be consistent on the defensive boards as Salisbury would go on to win 40-31.  The Bears look to snap this 3 game losing streak as they travel to face Kent on Saturday, January 25th.
