The Bears traveled back into Connecticut on Saturday to face Avon Old Farms. The Bears were down to nine players due to injury, but were happy to get back Sam Clougher after a long layoff due to several injuries. The Bears seized the initiative early by taking an 8-2 lead, but the Winged Beavers of Avon fought back to take the lead at halftime. After getting some instruction from Coach Anderson and Coach Moodey, the Bears began the second half with an 8-0 run, but again the Winged Beavers fought back and took a slight lead with less than two minutes to go. The game would come down to the final play as Avon's best player brought the ball up the court, guarded by Justin Donawa. With under 10 seconds to go, Justin poked the ball free from the Avon player and raced in for the layup. His attempt was too hard and bounced off the rim, but Haden Cosman flew in from nowhere for the tip-in at the buzzer. Bears win 44-42. Great game Bears!
