Today the Bears faced Trinity Pawling again but this time the match was played under the mountain. After cheering on the Girls' JV Squash Team, the boys were eager to secure another win. #8 Peter Dunn '15 did not start off well but his made an overwhelming come-back with powerful shots to end the match and claim the victory. #7 Gerry Gimenez Valdes '15 played his shots well but his inconsistency hurt him and he lost his match. #6 Brady Wilson '17 worked hard throughout the games but his opponent was able to force Brady deep to the corners, which allowed him to control the center. Brady competed hard but lost 0-3. #5 Ian Bell '16 lost his first set but he pushed his opponent to a 2-2 tie, forcing the pivotal fifth set. In the final set, Bell's battled hard and won the decisive set. #4 Bryce Laigle '15 lost his first set but won it back in the second one. However, he was unable to maintain the consistency and lost the next two sets. #3 Bao Nguyen '14 was dominant in his first set but his confidence hurt him the second set. In the next two sets, Nguyen fully concentrated on controlling the opponent and won 3-1. #2 Hunter Borwick '16 lost his first set, but he made some tactical adjustments and won his match 3-1. #1 Yanno Fernandez '16 was once again put under the pressure as the overall match score was 3-3 when his match started. Dependable as always, Yanno did not let the team down as he won 3-0 to secured the win for Berkshire.
It was a tough 4-3 win, but we anticipated this as Trinity Pawling is a powerful opponent. The team played with lots of heart and showed great composure throughout the match. Next, the Bears will face Avon Old Farms, a first division team, this Saturday.
