Hockey - Girls Junior Varsity vs. The Hotchkiss School

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 30, 2013

Score:2 - 4

Event Recap:
Fired up to be back on their home ice and after a fun Tuesday afternoon battle with the boy's of the "Rec" hockey squad, the Berkshire JVarsity girls took on Hotchkiss once again. Just tow minutes into play, the Bears found themselves leading on the scoreboard for the first time all season as Allegra Hortmann '14 fired a five-hole shot past the Bearcat tender. Berkshire played their best hockey to date, executing tough defense all over the ice, battle for loose pucks, and really testing the Hotchkiss goalie. With 7:10 on the clock, Elizabeth Hosage '15 won the puck against the boards on the offensive blue line and fired home Berkshire's second tally of the afternoon, with a little help from Sophie Perekslis '14. The goal marked Hosage's first in her career on the ice. Not to be deterred, Hotchkiss snuck one past Berkshire goalie Haleigh Sullivan '15 before the close of the period, and the Bears enjoyed their short-lived lead heading into the second. Scoring once in the second and twice in the third, Hotchkiss refused to bend to the aggressive play of Bear Olivia Mason '13, LJ Branch '15, and Kara Falck '15. Falling 4-2 after a well-played game, Sullivan stopped 18 shots as the Bears drop to 0-8 at the midpoint of their season.
