Hockey - Girls Junior Varsity vs. The Taft School

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 5, 2013

Score:1 - 6

Event Recap:
The JV Girls fell 6-1 to Taft in a tough match-up on the road. Taft opened up their scoring onslaught less than 2 minutes into the game, sliding the puck past fourth form goalie Haleigh Sullivan's glove. Sullivan held the Rhinos at bay with excellent play for another 5 minutes before a five-hole shot put the ladies in green and grey down by 2. With just minutes to go in the first period, Sullivan made a diving save to stop a breakaway, holding the score at 2-0.

Though Berkshire picked up their pace in the second period, they struggled to finish at the net, and found themselves quickly down 5-0 by the end of the second period . Captain Olivia Mason '13 and Logan Bell '15 each had good opportunities, but were unable to work past strong Taft goal tending. Bell put the Bears on the scoreboard at the start of the third period, but was unable to convert again in the final 15 minutes of play.

Sullivan had yet another outstanding day with 30 saves - a save percentage of 83.5%. Berkshire took 19 shots on net.

The Bears return to the the Jackman L. Stewart Center to take on Williston Northampton on Wednesday.
