Hockey - Girls Junior Varsity vs. Loomis

Event Type: Regular

Date: December 5, 2012

Score:1 - 2

Event Recap:

The Loomis girls' JV hockey team arrived at the Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center with a small but mighty squad.  Our team took the ice with gusto and beginning skaters like Liza Jane Branch '15, Reilly Kennedy '15, Allie Toffolon '14, Emma Weinstein '16, and Sophie Needles '16 made their season debut against the talented Pelicans.  Even missing a few players to illness and injury, we were able to rotate through a lineup of 20 girls.  The first period saw many exciting scoring opportunities for both sides but the Loomis goalie and Haleigh Sullivan '15 were backboards between the pipes.  About half way through the second period, Kara Falck '15 fired a long range snipe from the point to put the Bears up 1-0.  Unfortunately, that would be their final goal of the game with intense pressure from a tireless Loomis team that put up the tying and game-winning goals late in the period.  All should be applauded for their efforts in this exciting game and a special kudos to captains Maddie Bricken '13 and Olivia Mason '13 for fighting hard to the bitter end.  The Bears will regroup with a fun and competitive practice on Thursday and look to their next game in 2013.
