The JV Girls fell 8-2 in their first game of the year to a formidable Choate squad.
Scoring opened early as new goal tender Haleigh Sullivan '15 and her defense were caught off-guard less than one minute into the game. Though Choate continued to control the puck through most of the 45 minute game, the Bears did an excellent job of pressuring the puck in the neutral zone, and breaking the puck out of their defensive zone.
Captain Maddie Bricken '13 brought the Bears deficit down to two in the first period with a goal, assisted by Co-Captain Olivia Mason '13. Just moments later, Maureen McCarthy '14 made it a close game with another Berkshire tally, assisted by Allegra Hortsmann '14.
Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to overcome the impressive skating and strong shooting of their opponents. Despite the score, a margin veteran JV Bears are not accustomed to seeing, the coaches were pleased with the enthusiasm from all members of the team and are looking forward to the hard work that awaits the team this winter.
Sullivan made 35 saves in her debut in the net.
