Berkshire School fields a Girl's Varsity, a Boys Varsity, and a co-ed Junior Varsity.
Berkshire provides our students with a unique opportunity to maximize their ski race regimen while remaining focused on a demanding academic curriculum. Our Boy's Varsity Team competes in the Class A Division of the New England Private School Athletic Council (NEPSAC – ME, NH, VT, MA & CT) and within the Brigham Ski League, named in 2012 for longtime Berkshire coach Bob Brigham and comprised of prep schools in western Massachusetts and Connecticut. The boys train five days a week at the Catamount Ski Area, located a short eight-minute drive from campus. Our licensed USSA staff-coaches provide a dedicated daily training progression, offering school and USSA race support, assistance in equipment selection and tuning, video analysis and conditioning.
The program has enjoyed strong success in recent years. Boys Varsity has been undefeated in the past three years of BSL competitions, including wins in the BSL Slalom and Giant Slalom Championships. In 2011 and 2012, the Boys Varsity won the New England Class B Championship including the Overall New England Boy's Champion and Boy's Slalom Champion in both years. In that two year span, the Varsity also captured the Berkshire Ski League GS Team Championships and Slalom Team Championships. In 2013, the boys finished 2nd overall in the New England Class A Championships.
Our athletes also have the opportunity to compete in the United States Ski Association (USSA). Berkshire School maintains a licensed USSA Club Program, which provides the continuity of training all week, coupled with the support at weekend USSA races. For the 2014 season, twenty of our thirty-one skiers will compete in USSA competitions. In the past four years, Berkshire racers qualified to the USSA Future Stars, Eastern U16 Championships, Eastern U16 Finals, Eastern U21/U18 Finals, FIS Eastern NJR Championships, Eastern Elite FIS Spring Series and the U16 Am-Can Championships!
