Prospective Racer Inquiry Form

Berkshire School fields a Girl's Varsity, a Boys Varsity, a co-Ed Junior Varsity and a Development Program for their ski teams.

Berkshire provides our students with a unique opportunity to maximize their ski race regimen while remaining focused on a demanding academic curriculum. Our Boy's Varsity Team competes in the Class A Division of the New England Private School Athletic Council (NEPSAC – ME, NH, VT, MA & CT) and within the Brigham Ski League, named in 2012 for longtime Berkshire coach Bob Brigham and comprised of prep schools in western Massachusetts and Connecticut. The boys train five days a week at the Catamount Ski Area, located a short eight-minute drive from campus. Our licensed USSA staff-coaches provide a dedicated daily training progression, inclusive of race support, assistance in equipment selection and conditioning.

The program has enjoyed strong success in recent years. In 2011 and 2012, the Boys Varsity won the New England Class B Championship including the Overall New England Boy's Champion and Boy's Slalom Champion in both years. In that two year span, the Varsity also captured the Berkshire Ski League GS Team Championships and Slalom Team Championships.

Roughly half of our ski team participates in the United States Ski Association (USSA) and International Ski Federation (FIS) competitions. During the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons, Berkshire racers qualified to compete in the USSA Future Stars, J3 Junior Olympics/Marriott J3 Championships, Eastern J1/J2 Championships and the FIS Eastern NJR Championships. Berkshire USSA skiers enjoy full coaching support at all USSA Tristate U16 and U21/18 competitions and at Championship events.

Our skiers are afforded the opportunity to attend pre-season ski camps held at Mt Hood, Oregon in the Summer, and Copper Mountain, Colorado in the late Fall.
