Head Coach:  John Borwick '81 (johnborwick@berkshireschool.org)
Assistant Coaches: Bob Brigham, Evan Clary, Maura Mackenzie, John Slyer, Scott Govertsen and George Frick

Coach John Borwick is a former Head J3 Coach of the Holiday program in New York, before moving west to work as a J3 Coach with MART. Borwick was selected to work with the National Development System in USSA Rocky/Central before returning to take on the position of Alpine J3 Coach & Alpine Admissions with the Stratton Mountain School. While at SMS, Borwick worked under two former U.S. Ski Team coaches, Mike Morin and Eric Harlow, and coached current USST athletes Brittany Lathrop, Libby Gibson and Nick Krause. Borwick is a USSA certified Alpine Coach, Alpine Official and former USSA Eastern Program Coach.

Coach Bob Brigham returned to the Berkshire School in the fall of 2010 to resume as Program Director. Coach Brigham is a former Berkshire School Ski Team Head Coach, Chemistry Teacher and Asst Head of School (1971–1989). Bob is also a former coach with the Sugar Mt. Ski Team (NC), President of the Berkshire Ski League, President of USSA/Tristate Alpine Racing Association and the Southern Alpine Racing Association. Coach Brigham is a USSA certified Alpine Coach and a Level IV Technical Delegate. 

Coach Evan Clary brings with him a tireless energy and a thirst for knowledge both on and off the race course. Coach Clary grew up racing in Colorado before setting his sights on his academics. At Berkshire, Coach Clary chairs the English Department, which ensures that our racers are both fast and grammatically correct. Coach Clary is a licensed USSA Club Coach.

Coach Maura Mackenzie
was the former Berkshire School Ski Team Head Coach and brings a wealth of skills and knowledge to the ski program. Coach Mackenzie is a licensed USSA Club Coach. 

Coach George Frick
spent the past fifteen of sixteen years coaching the J3/J4 level at the Okemo Mountain Race Programs (Okemo Mountain Alpine Race Association / Okemo Mountain School) and has worked with scores of young athletes who went on to qualify for Vermont State Teams, J4 Future Stars and the J3 Junior Olympic levels.  For the past year, George was coaching with the Butternut Race Team here in USSA Tristate before setting his sights on the Berkshire School. George is a USSA licensed Alpine Coach and Alpine Official.

Coach John Slyer
has been coaching competitive sports for the past 29 years, specializing in cycling, track and ski racing. He's the Head Coach of the Multi-Sport Triathlon Club and Adventure Camp and is a certified NYS Teacher.  John began his ski race coaching career with the Brodie Mountain Ski Team before working with the Bousquet Ski Team. He's gone on to become a volunteer with the Jiminy Peak Ski Team as well as is a full-time ski patrolman with Jiminy. John is also a licensed USSA Coach and Alpine Official.

Coach Scott Govertsen
joins the Berkshire School Ski Team for the 2012-13 season with a strong background in the P.S.I.A "Professional Ski Instructors of America" organization. Scott is a certified Level 2 Alpine Ski Instructor and has taught alpine skiing professionally for 8 years at the Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. At Jiminy, Scott was a staff trainer and all-around instructor. Scott is also a USSA Certified Alpine Coach and Alpine Official.
