Squash - Girls Varsity
Girls' squash has a strong tradition at Berkshire School, and a number of recent graduates have gone on to success at the college level, especially in NESCAC play: Courtney Kollmer '06 at Hamilton; Emily Russell '07 at Bates; Allie Hibbs '09 at Conn College; and Maddie Hunsicker '11 at Colby. Hibbs, who served as captain of the Conn team last season, and Hunsicker, who will take on that role for Colby starting in fall 2013, crossed paths often in the small world of intercollegiate squash. The Lady Bears ended a strong 2012-3 campaign on a note of triumph, finishing 8th at the New England tournament, continuing the improvement shown in the past three seasons. Competing against peer schools in western New England, the Bears fought their way to a 8-5 match record, including wins against Kingswood-Oxford, Kent, Williston, Canterbury and Millbrook, and close losses to Suffield and Hotchkiss. In addition to our demanding interscholastic schedule, we play at least one team tournament during the season and culminate with the NEISA championships.
This year's team anticipates strong leadership, gritty play and international flair from five rising seniors: Michaelann Denton (Jamaica), Serena Menges (New York), Edeline Loh (Singapore), Allie Brazo (Connecticut) and Clementina Davila (Mexico). With lots of energy around the sport and a seasoned crew of leaders, the Lady Bears are poised for continuing success on the squash courts.
