Event Recap:
The Bears took 2nd place in the C tournament at Portsmouth Abbey over the weekend.  As we approached the end of the day, the Bears had five players in the finals.  The Canterbury Saints also had five players in the final draw so we knew it would be close battle for first and second.  In the #6 flight, George Fowlkes '14 demonstrated his incredible improvement this season by taking a 2-0 lead against his opponent. He couldn't find enough energy in the tank to close it in three and then lost the next two.  #4 Jack Harrison '15 faced a Green Farms Academy player of a similar ilk.  The two players made it to every ball and pushed each other to the brink as they extended points well beyond what the audience thought possible.  With the audience gasping in the background, Jack took the fifth game 12-10 to win his flight!  At the #3 position, Sam Perkins '14 did a great job to earn a spot in the finals and, similar to George, went up 2-0.  However, his opponent turned it on for the final three games and despite Sam's best efforts, he lost the next three games.  #2 Sam Lewis '14 played some of his best squash this season and quickly won 3-0 against his opponent to take #1 in the 2 flight.  At #1 Hayden Dunham '13 hadn't been pushed much during the tournament.  However, his third match in as many weeks against Canterbury's #1, Kingsley Amoko, was a phenomenal display of shotmaking, gets, and squash intelligence.  The two played some great points and despite Hayden having won the first two meetings, his Canterbury opponent was able to win 3-1.  Nonetheless, it was a great final match for our captain and lone senior and we wish Hayden all the best as he moves on to Hobart's team next year.

Thanks to all of the parents for their support throughout the year and we're looking forward to another fantastic season in 2014.
