In our second home match of the season, the Bears squared off against a talented and much more experienced Salisbury squad. While we struggled to earn individual game victories, the team fought hard and continued to demonstrate a desire to live up to its potential. #3 - #8 all lost in three but the matches were tighter than that might lead one to conclude. Tanner Tomasi '14 lost 14-12 in the second and 16-18 in the third. Jack Harrison '15 lost his second game 8-11 despite some great depth on his rails and impressive gets. #5 Peter Hoover '14 has started to find consistent lengths on his rails and is starting to recover to the T after each shot. He's beginning to return to the form he possessed at the end of last season. The highlights of the day were at the #1 and #2 positions. #2 Sam Lewis '14 started to find adequate length and fought a very closely contested five gamer against his opponent. He lost the fifth 5-11 but it was his best performance to date. At #1, captain Hayden Dunham '13 came out swinging in the first game. He and his opponent seemed to jockey for who could hit the ball harder. As the match settled down, Hayden began to control the T more. His opponent hit some great drops and impressive volleys to keep the second game very tight. Hayden won 14-12 after his opponent hit three tins in a row. Hayden calmed down for the third and won 11-6. While it wasn't a win, the Bears showed some great character today and responded to a tough challenge. Thanks to Mr. Fowlkes and the Wilsons for the support and we square off against Suffield at 1:30 on Saturday.
