Basketball - Girls Varsity
vs. Choate Rosemary Hall
|Date:||February 6, 2013|
|Score:||45 - 35|
Coming off a momentous win at Hotchkiss followed by a long weekend away from school, the Bears took the floor again on Wednesday afternoon against the Wild Boars of Choate. But the start was slow, and Coach Smith pulled the starters after a frustrating set of possessions to begin the game. The Bears fell behind 15-2 before regaining their composure and taking control of the game. They clawed their back to within 2 by halftime, and won 45-35 in one of the uglier wins of the season.
The Bears were plagued by turnovers and a poor shooting percentage all game. Samone DeFreese ’15 (16 points, 6 rebounds) and Hannah Cooke ’14 (14 points, 6 rebounds) were the only two Bears who scored in double figures, and Emmi Graebner ’14, Cam Biasin ’14, and Kristalyn Baisden ’15 rounded out the scoring. While Choate was held to just 35 points, Berkshire failed to execute its offense and find open players on the floor. The girls simply did not bring the same level of focus and intensity that they had in the Hotchkiss game but nevertheless, earned another Class A win.
The Bears’ game against Westminster has been rescheduled to Monday, February 18th at 5pm due to the impending snow storm. Before that, the girls will head to Kingswood-Oxford for a Tuesday night game next week.
