Coming off another successful season which saw the Bears miss advancing to the New England Prep School Girls Basketball Class B championship game by one point, the team is looking to build on the program’s recent success. To do so, the Bears must replace the production and leadership of five seniors who were instrumental to the team’s success over the past few years.
This year’s squad is young but talented and will be lead by two multi-year NEPSGBA all-stars in Kristalyn Baisden ’15 (captain) and Samone DeFreese ’16. Baisden is a four-year starter who recently signed a national letter of intent to play for St. Joe’s in Philadelphia, Penn. and the Atlantic 10 Conference upon graduating from Berkshire. DeFreese is a three-year starter who lead the Bears in scoring and rebounding the past two years. The team will also be looking for seniors Nicky Friedman ‘15 (captain), Sarah Kinney ’15, and Mary Ward ’15 to bring leadership and experience to the team. After losing so many key players to graduation, the Bears will turn to a group of talented sophomores Autumn Truesdale ’17, Madison Biasin ’17, Jeanna Willis ’17, and Genesis Paulino ’17. Rounding out the roster is Lexi Fortune ’18, a gifted athlete and lone freshman. Also helping out this year are three dedicated and talented managers Sylvan Gomez ’17, Jeremy Richard ’17, and Bryce Laigle ’15.
