Basketball - Boys Varsity

|Score:||Berkshire 57 - Hotchkiss 54|
The Bearcats from Hotchkiss arrived on the Duryee Court this afternoon for yet another rematch for the Bears. The first game was a near miss for the team as they had employed some old school D to upend the Bearcats best player. What might the plan be for this day? Well, old school it was again, with one little other wrinkle. Instead of taking out just one hand, why not try to cut them both off and take the guards out of play with some simple slow play and a triangle and two. Well, the Bearcats were quickly declawed by the new approach and once again the Bears left at halftime with a 7 point lead similar to two weeks ago. Second half test was to see if this time we could stick to the plan, attack the basket at the right time and continue the stellar D against the number three ranked A team in New England. Well the Bears were not to be denied this time around as they withstood every run made by the Bearcats while sticking to the game plan. They did everything they needed to do which included shooting 16 for 18 from the charity strip in the second half when it counted while holding the Hotchkiss starting guards to a measly 13 points for the whole game. Finally score in an old school type of game, Bears 57; Hotchkiss 54. Sweet!
The game saw Cyrus Rothwell-Ferraris and TJ Stewart handle their assignment with near flawless defense against the two guards who hurt us the first game, TJ held his man to 2 points while Cyrus held their high scorer to 11. Troy Pierre-Louis lead all scorers with 21 going 11 for 12 from the foul line; Chris Cooke had 14 which included 7 from 8 from the line, making six in a row within the last two minutes of the game; Lavante Wiggins had twelve and was six for six from the line; Cyrus had 6; TJ 3 and Will Fortenbaugh 2. Next rematch is down in Pawling against the tough TP Pride. What will this rematch bring?
