vs. Choate Rosemary Hall
|Date:||February 12, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 2 - Choate 3|
Berkshire played host to Choate on Wednesday for their final home game of the season and despite falling 3-2, played some quality hockey.
In the opening period of the game both teams were skating hard and trying to gain the upper hand. Each team had a couple of quality chances, but both teams went to the locker room tied 0-0.
Choate stuck first in the opening minute of the second period and continued to pour on the pressure. Several times they were able to pin the Bears in the D zone, but Berkshire weathered the storm due in large part to the terrific play of Jamie Ernst '15. Ernst stopped 12 of the 13 shots she faced that period. The Bears stepped up their game with 4 minutes left in the period and created some quality chances of their own. Erin Dillon '17 jammed in a puck that was sent on goal by Kenzie Lancaster '15 with just 32 seconds left in the period to tie the game and send Berkshire to the locker room with momentum.
Two and a half minutes into the third period, Berkshire struck again. Kate Klimaszewski '16 jumped on a feed into the slot from Alli Sugar '16. Maggie Curran '17 had the second assist on the goal. While both teams continued to battle it out for the remainder of the period, Choate would gain the upper hand scoring the next two goals and hanging on for the win.
Olivia Good '15 played extremely well defensively for the Bears as did Ronnie Lortie '14. Both found themselves breaking up 2v1 opportunities and making clean breakout passes to start the bears offense. Ernst turned away 22 of 25 shots.
