Hockey - Boys Varsity vs. Choate

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home

Date: January 15, 2014

Result:Tie
Score:Berkshire 1 - Choate 1

Event Recap:
Fans on hand were treated to an excellent showcase of prep hockey yesterday when the Berkshire Bears took on the Choate Wild Boars. The game didn't feature a great deal of scoring, but both teams competed hard and represented their schools very well. It should also be noted that both goaltenders played especially well in the contest with both Choate's Sam Tucker and Berkshire's George Blinick stopping 34/35 shots they faced.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie after two periods. It wasn't until mid-way through the third that Charlie Corcoran scored after gathering a long pass from Bryan Gerstenfeld to give the Bears the advantage. The Berkshire penalty kill was tested in the third period as they were called for five (5) penalties in the stanza. Eventually, with a little over three minutes remaining in the game Choate was able to break through off a bouncing puck that was swatted at the net off the rush.

The two teams remained scoreless through OT and the game ended in a tie. Berkshire is back in action on Saturday at home against Avon Old Farms at 2:30pm.
