On Saturday night at the Jackman Stewart Athletic Center the Berkshire Bears hosted the Westminster Martlets for an exciting display of prep hockey. Berkshire was able to jump out to an early lead in the first period when Adam Tracey '14 was able to bang in a goal on the power play. The Bears kept the pressure on in the first as Tipper Higgins '14 extended the Berkshire lead to 2-0 after the first period. Berkshire had chances to extend their lead, but were unable to capitalize and midway through the second stanza Westminster scored two goals within 20 second of each other. The Martlets used this swing in momentum to dominate much of the middle period. Both teams went to the locker room after two periods knowing that this contest would be decided by the 18 minutes that remained. Both teams had chances in the third and each of the goalies should be commended for their efforts, but it was Westminster that was able to net the go-ahead goal and hang on for the win. This defeat halted the Berkshire unbeaten streak at 20 games. It was a good run for the Bears and now they are tasked with refocusing and starting the next streak as they get right back into game action against Albany Academy Monday 2/18 at 4:30pm at the JACK.
