Hockey - Boys Varsity vs. Choate Rosemary Hall

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 16, 2013

Score:4 - 4

Event Recap:

The Bears were on the road today to face a talented Choate squad in Wallingford, CT. Berkshire looked strong in the early going in what was a fast paced first period. Tipper Higgins '14 got the Bears on the board first off a feed from Craig Puffer '14. The Wild Boars would answer with the next tally, but Berkshire answered with two of their own. The first was a point blast off the stick of Bryan Gerstenfeld '14 and the other from Nick O'Connor '14, the product of some nice cycling of the puck by the O'Connor-Sontag-Tracey line. The Bears felt good with their effort after the first stanza. Perhaps too good. They seemed to lose their jump and some sloppy play allowed Choate to close the gap to 3-2 after two periods. In the third period Nick O'Connor added his second goal of the game, but Choate came back with two of their own. The game went to OT tied 4-4 and while both teams had opportunities, this match-up would end in a tie. It was a hard fought, clean game between two good prep teams.

The Bears will be back in action and back on the road Saturday when they head to Avon to face the Winged Beavers.
