The Bears made their way down the road to Lakeville this afternoon to face the Hotchkiss Bearcats. The short trip allowed a strong contingent of Berkshire fans to make the trip. This extra support buoyed the Berkshire skaters in what was a fast paced opening period. It would be Jake Sontag '14 who would open the scoring in the game off a nice individual effort in the offensive zone. That would be the only goal in the first peiod. In the middle period the Bears netted some timely goals to pull away. Charlie Corcoran '14 scored on a breakway off assists from Cam Kaiser '13and Bryan Gerstenfeld '14. Later in the period, Tipper Higgins '14 added a power play goal. This gave the Bears some breathing room, and a tally in the last minute of the period off the stick of Nick O'Connor '14 stretched the lead even further. If there was any question of the outcome going into the third, Corcoran answered it when he gathered a beautiful chip pass from Gerstenfeld, beat a Hotchkiss defender, and scored on the first shift in the third to make the lead 5-1. Higgins and O'Connor would each go on to score their second goals of the game, and defenseman Dan Driscoll '15 got his first point, assisting on O'Connor's second tally. Goaltender Tim Ernst '13 got the win in net with the final score being, 7-2.
The Bears are back in action Wednesday when they go on the road to play Choate.
