Lacrosse - Boys Junior Varsity
vs. Loomis Chaffee
|Date:||April 13, 2013|
|Score:||6 - 11|
While the JV boy's performance was somewhat inconsistent against Loomis on Saturday, they continued to show improvement in regards to shooting, passing, defense, and overall team chemistry. The game got off to a great start with attackman Barclay Gammill making a nice shot on goal from a quick fast break pass from midfielder Charlie Quaintance. Loomis then answered with three goals soon after and the first quarter ended 3-2, with Andrew Koudijs getting one in the net as well.
Loomis capitalized on Berkshire's man down penalties during the second quarter and put in three more goals. Barclay scored again on a nice drive to get a hat trick, and almost scored another goal but the clock ended less than a second before the ball went into the net. Berkshire had many opportunities to score on man-up plays but were not able to do it.
While Loomis continued to make more goals than Berkshire in the second half, the Bears had some moments that showed their true potential. Barclay made some nice goal when Berkshire had a man-down, midfielder Jay Bolton made a goal, and Barclay and Charlie Quaintince had some nice looks on the offensive side. Midfielder Peter Hoover also made a nice body check. On the pole side, Michael Schiffer played good defense, Hunter Reynolds took a nice shot on goal in a fast break, and Josh Ibanez made some nice checks. Unfortunately, the scoring run of the Bears during the second half wasn't enough to catch up to Loomis. Throughout the game, Sam Merrill played very well at goal.
