Baseball - Boys Junior Varsity vs. Suffield Academy

Event Type: Regular

Date: May 3, 2014

Event Recap:

On a breezy afternoon in Suffield, the Bears turned a tight game after four into a blowout 13-4 win .  The Berkshire Bears JV scored five runs in the fifth on the Berkshire Bears JV scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Jake Grant, a walk by Tristan Gaynor, a two-run single by Will Perekslis, and a wild pitch.

Max Miller, Trevor Berry and Perekslis managed two hits each on the afternoon;  Miller and Perekslis drove in two each; and Grant, Henry Thomas, Mark Driscoll and Tristan Gaynor scored two each.  A strong effort on the basepaths helped keep the offensive machinery in gear, as Thomas, Miller, Driscoll and Perekslis swiped a couple of bags each.

Patrick Frey pitched a complete game for the boys in green and grey, striking out six and allowing just three earned runs in seven innings. Some timely fielding -- and we still want to get a look at the video replay on Alex Meehan's bare-hander charging in from third -- helped to minimize the Tigers' scoring to the second and fourth innings, and Frey had all the runs he needed, and then some.

A quick Subway stop on the way home, coupled with Coach Cronze's epic frapuccino order, got everybody in the right mindset for the ride home.
