The Bears took a quick lead with three fast break goals in the first few minutes of play versus Kent. Strong transitions and consistent draw controls allowed Berkshire to set the pace of the game in the first half.Murphy Newman ’13, Ronnie Lortie ’14, and Amelia Patsalos-Fox ’14 helped the Bears to dominate the draw controls with their aggressive play and determination on ground balls in the midfield. With a patient and disciplined attack, the Bears slowed the ball down and picked apart the Kent defense. Throughout the half, Kent battled and notched a couple of well-earned goals to make it 8-2 at the half. Berkshire’s strong defense kept Kent at two goals with high pressure and effective communication. Kent came out with more fire in the second half and the Lions capitalized on some defensive gaps in Berkshire’s end making the end result 13-5.
Britt Brown ’13 played a great game and finished the day with 15 saves. Also having big games on defense were Lucy Hollister ’15 and Sandra Stephan ’15, their hustle and grit set the tone for Berkshire's defense.Allie McErlean '14 had an incredible game with five goals and two assists. Sydney Beldock '14 was key in transition and anchored the attack scoring three goals, assisting two and causing many important turnovers in the midfield. Elle Mattsson '15 sniped three goals and assisted another. Hannah Honan '15 scored one goal and assisted another.
The Bears will take on Choate and Millbrook this week at home.
