Lacrosse - Girls Varsity vs. Greenwich

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 17, 2013

Score:6 - 18

Event Recap:

Visiting Greenwich Academy proved quite the challenge in the end after a strong Berkshire start.  Berkshire struck first with a goal by Sydney Beldock '14 who had a nice roll dodge inside the 8 meter.  However, a couple poorly timed yellow cards put Berkshire at a disadvantage as Greenwich Academy buried a few quick goals.  The Gators then won the next handful of draw controls and continued to widen the margin.  Despite many dramatic stuffs by goalie Britt Brown '13 (18 total saves), the Greenwich shooters were on their game.   The score at the half was 11-5.

The second half saw Greenwich Academy widen the margin with their trademark fast break attack and dominance on the draw.  The speed and precision of their passes were too much for the Berkshire ride to stifle and the Gators ran away with the game.  The attacking unit performed well when they had possession of the ball with key Berkshire points by Beldock (2 goals, 1 assist), Sandra Stephan '15 (2 goals), Molly Crabtree '15 (1 goal, 1 assist), and Emily Barclay '15 (1 goal).  Stephan also had 3 draw controls, 3 ground balls, and 1 interception.

The Bears look to rebound against Suffield Academy on Saturday.
