Berkshire traveled down to take on defending Div. II champions Millbrook on Wednesday. The Bears have been playing some quality lacrosse as of late and were looking to keep the good times rolling in the final week of the season as they will play three games in four days. After a slow start offensively, Berkshire put in three goals in five minutes and took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was defensive battle and while the Bears held a 5-2 lead going into the half they were not playing their best lacrosse.
The second half proved to be a different story. The Bears outscored Millbrook 5-0 in the third quarter and cruised to a 14-3 win in the contest. The defense of Jack O’Donoghue, Ryan Savage, Cooper Fersen, Joe Pezza, George Fowlkes, and Matty Wieczorek did a great job holding Millbrook scoreless for most of the second half. Goalkeepers Tyler Behring (10 saves) and Connor Shalleck (2 saves) performed well in the net.
Offensively, the Bears were led by Sam Woodcock (1 goal, 6 assists), Charlie Corcoran (4 goals, 3 assists), Robbie Fiamengo (5 goals), Michael Allen (2 goals, 1 assist), Regan Haas (2 assists), Quin Pompi (1 goal, 1 assist), and Ben Brigham (1 goal).
Sam Hahn and Charlie Erdmann had a nice day for the Bears at the faceoff X. With the win Berkshire moves to 8-7 on the season and has won six of its last eight games.
