Crew - Boys Varsity vs. Canterbury School
vs. Hopkins

Event Type: Regular

Date: May 17, 2014

Event Recap:

On Saturday, May 17th Berkshire Bears Boys' Crew traveled to New Milford, Connecticut to race on a picturesque portion of the Housatonic River. Canterbury played host and had invited a veritable armada of opposition with many races using all six lanes of the race course. The boys in green and grey had a strong showing, with only the 1st boat, working on a new race plan for New Englands, not defeating all of the opposition. Berkshire's 4th, 5th, and 6th boat all were entered in the same race because of a lack of 5th and 6th boats from the opposing schools. In an impressive demonstration of depth, the trio of Berkshire boats finished 1-2-3 in the six boat contest, with Berkshire's 6th boat of Gerry Gimenez-Valdes, Devon Kessler, Charlie Quaintance, Michael Melvin and coxswain Savanna Fortgang took third place, edging a Marianapolis by four seconds.

This will be the last race for the Bears until the top four boats go to the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship Regatta on Saturday for the culminating race of one of the winningest seasons in Berkshire crew's history.
