Tennis - Boys Varsity vs. Northfield Mount Hermon

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 12, 2014

Event Recap:

Missing three valuable members of the team due to various commitments, the Bears traveled up I-91 to Northfield Mount Hermon. With the weather cooperating, the Bears played good and consistent doubles and singles. In the doubles portion, all three teams won with the team of Wilson/Petersen leading the way at #2. From there, the singles portion had it all. Tanner Bolye (’17), Quentin van der Lee (’16) and Mikey Petersen (’17) dispatched their opponents with workmen-like efficiency. None of the three dropped more than three games in a set using consistency, good serving and aggressive player. Jesse Lee (’16) got his first varsity win for the Bears displaying a good tennis IQ and fine-tuning his recipe for success over the course of three sets. Yanno Fernandez (’16) and Noah Wilson (’15) each showed a lot of heart and the ability to compete on any day but came up short in their respective matches, losing in close tie-breakers. Final score: 5-2 win. The Bears host Williston Northampton on Wednesday.
