Softball - Girls Varsity vs. The Taft School

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 9, 2014

Event Recap:

After going down by two runs in the top of the first inning, Berkshire battled back with strong hits and well executed bunts to tie the score at three in the second.   Taft continued to be a powerhouse on offense, plating three runs on three consecutive doubles with two outs in the top of the fourth to pull ahead 6-3.  Again not to be outdone, the Bears remained disciplined with the bats, and tied it up at six in the bottom of the fourth.  They then got their first lead of the day in the bottom of the sixth, putting the score at 9-6, and keeping it there after a 1-2-3 out last inning.

Krissy Govertsen ’15 was composed as ever on the mound all day, and helped herself out by going 2-3 at the plate, with an RBI.  Both Annie Love ’16 (2-2) and Jamie Ernst ’15 (3-4 with two doubles) had two RBI.  It was a solid team effort overall, and a great start to the season.
