Softball - Girls Varsity vs. Westminster School

Event Type: Regular

Date: May 1, 2013

Score:2 - 17

Event Recap:

The Bears suffered their second loss of the season away on Wednesday against a very talented Westminster team.  The Bears came out strong in the top of the first, scoring two.  Krissy Govertsen ’15 showed discipline at the plate, reaching on a walk, and was moved to second by a perfectly executed base hit bunt by Annie Love ’16.  The two then scored on a beautifully hit triple by Caitlin Kiene ’13.  It seemed like a great start for Berkshire, but the bats from the Westminster side were very strong from the start, and the Bears were not able to make the tough plays, allowing Westminster 11 runs in the bottom of the first.  Berkshire had a tough time coming back mentally after a punishing first inning, and went on to lose 17-2.

Love had a great offensive game, going 3 for 3 on the day, and Lauren Henman  ’14 stepped in to make some impressive defensive plays at shortstop when Govertsen took over on the mound in the third inning.

The Bears, now 6-2 on the season, will travel to Kent on Saturday, looking to bounce back.
