Softball - Girls Varsity vs. Williston

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 13, 2013

Score:12 - 6

Event Recap:
The Bears had their first home game of the season on Saturday facing an offensively strong Williston team.  The beginning of the game stayed close, due to some errors coming from both sides, but Berkshire pulled ahead in the third to put the score at 5-2.  In the top of the fifth, Williston came back with two runs, and still had a runner on third with one out.  Pitcher Caitlin Kiene ’13 scooped up a ground ball, caught the runner on third off the bag, and gunned her out to keep the tying run away from the plate.  With the score at 5-4 going into the bottom of the fifth, Berkshire’s bats came alive, including a line drive double by Krissy Govertsen ’15, to put the Bears ahead 12-5.  With a comfortable lead going into the last inning, Canterbury was not done yet, and led off the inning with two blasts for a pair of triples, scoring one more run.  Berkshire remained calm and held them to only that one run, ending the game at 12-6.  The Bears, now 3-1, will travel to play the so far undefeated Miss Hall’s squad on Wednesday.
