Baseball - Boys Varsity vs. Canterbury School

Event Recap:
The Bears traveled to Canterbury for their first match up of the season.  The Bears took advantage of some passed balls and errors to score 19 runs on the day and earned their tenth win of the season.  Ian Rasmussen '14 started on the mound for the Bears and worked for four innings to earn his second win of the season.  Johnny Grogan '14 came in relief and pounded the strike zone for three innings to secure the win.  Alden Boldt '14, Isiah Nunez '14, Cyrus Rothwell-Ferraris '14, and Bryan Gerstenfeld all had multiple hit days.  Sam Perkins '14, Spencer Cookson '15, Jack Gustavson '16, Jack Scafoni '17, and Loondy Lopez '15 also contributed a hit each and helped keep the pressure on the Saints' defense all game.  Defensively, Corey Wieczorek '16 had three solid plays at SS and Nate Summers had a great throw from the hole to cut down the runner in the second.  It was overall a good day at the plate for the Bears and with this win, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs for the second season in a row.  It earned the #2 seed in the Young Division and will play the #1 seed in the Cleary Division, which is yet to be determined.  For now, the Bears will focus on getting ready for Gunnery on Saturday, which will be our senior game.  Go Bears!
