Berkshire traveled to Cheshire Academy for its first league game. The Bears offense kept the pressure on Cheshire throughout the game and took advantages of some miscues by Cheshire to earn a 10-2 win. Jackson Aldam '14 started on the mound for the Bears and went six innings to earn the win. He settled in nicely in his last three innings, striking out four and only giving up one hit in those frames. Alden Boldt '14 scored the first run of the game for Berkshire with some heads up baserunning from third. Berkshire added another in the second with some fundamental baseball. Jonathan Chudacoff '14 led off the inning with a double and was then moved into scoring position by Brian Rodriguez '16. Stephen DePietto '15 then drove Chudacoff home with a groundball through the right side. Chudacoff had a really solid day at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. DePietto also had a solid day with two hits and three putouts in the outfield. Brian Gerstenfeld '14, Spencer Cookson '15, and Sam Perkins '14 all had RBI hits on the day as well. Overall the Bears played solid defense, highlighted with Cookson doubling up a runner at first with a strong throw from the outfield. Berkshire now prepares for its first division game on Wednesday against Millbrook, which will be out home opener.
