The Bears had solid pitching and timely hitting all afternoon against division adversary Salisbury, but after playing catch-up all game the Knights pulled ahead in the final inning to beat Berkshire 5-4.
Berkshire got out to an early lead on a bases-loaded single by Jesse Hahn ‘13, pushing two runs across home in the top of the first. After Will Aldam ’14 pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the second, Ryan Summers ’13 scored on an Isaiah Nunez ’14 double.
Salisbury quickly erased the lead in the bottom half of the third, taking advantage of an error and a walk to get their rally going. After two RBI singles and a sac-fly, the Knights and Bears were knotted at three runs apiece.
Aldam had another big inning in the fourth, pitching out of another bases-loaded jam, and the Bears’ bats followed suit in the top of the fifth when Brian Gerstenfeld ’14 singled to score Summers. The Knights again tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when Murnane scored on a throw down to second in a first-and-third situation.
Brian Rodriguez ’16 entered the game and held the Knight bats at bay until the seventh, when the winning run crossed the plate on a missed fly ball.
