The Bears headed to Watertown on a brisk Wednesday afternoon to take on Taft for their first game up north. Kyle Kobis '13 started on the mound for Berkshire and did a solid job of pounding the strike zone and challenging the Taft hitters. Kobis only walked two and let up two earned runs over his 5.1 innings. The Bears defense gave Taft too many opportunities in the first inning and Taft jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Although Berkshire did not score until the fifth inning, they had numerous opportunities to get back in the game. The Bears left seven men in scoring position before Bryan Gerstenfeld '14 drove in Nate Summers '14 in the top of the fifth. Gerstenfeld had four hits on the day and two RBIs, and Ryan Summers '13 and Isiah Nunez '14 also chipped in with an RBI each. The Bears have a week before their first league game, so we will continue to work hard in practice to take advantage of our scoring opportunities. Thanks for the parents who made the trip and for the snacks after the game.
